Professor of economics at Gakushūin University. Born in 1970, he graduated from Sophia University in 1994. After working at the Bank of Japan, he earned his PhD from Osaka University in 2000. Arrived in his present post in 2009 after serving as assistant professor at Osaka University and associate professor at Tokyo Gakugei University. Works include Keizaigakusha, taikijidō zero ni idomu (An Economist Takes on the Challenge of Cutting Daycare Waitlists to Zero). Specializes in social security theory, healthcare economics, social welfare economics, and the economics of social issues.
