Team leader, Tama Forest Science Garden, Forestry and Forestry Products Research Institute . Specialist in dendrology, plant taxonomy, and forest ecology. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1967. Earned a master’s degree in agriculture from the University of Tokyo; went on to earn his doctorate in agriculture. Author of Ikimono no deai zukan: Nihon no sakura (Illustrated Reference Book of Nature: Japan’s Sakura), Sakura (Sakura), and Sakura no kagaku (The Science of Sakura).
