Itō Yoshiaki
Journalist. Born in Tokyo in 1950. Joined the Mainichi Shimbun in 1974, serving as an international correspondent in Cairo, Geneva, and Washington DC before heading back to headquarters, where he headed the foreign desk, helmed the editorial division, and was executive editor before stepping down in 2017. Headed the Japan National Press Club in 2014–17. Author of books including Bosunia de okita koto (What Happened in Bosnia) and One Team no kiseki (Tracking Japan’s Rugby “One Team”).
