Yamamoto Akiko

Associate professor of international relations, University of the Ryūkyūs. Born in 1979 in Hokkaidō. Received her PhD from Hitotsubashi University. Author of Nichi-Bei Chii Kyōtei—Zai-Nichi Beigun to ‘dōmei’ no 70-nen (The Status of Forces Agreement: 70 Years of “Alliance” with the US Forces Japan) and other works. From 2019 to 2021, sat on the Bankoku Shinryō Council on US Military Base Issues, an advisory panel established by the Okinawa prefectural government.
