    Associate professor and the Director of the Maritime Safety and Security Program at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, GRIPS. Specializes in Southeast Asian area studies and political science. Formerly assistant professor at De La Salle University (Philippines) and specialist researcher at the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines. Author of the 2016 Central Banking as State Building: Policymakers and their Nationalism in the Philippines, 1933–1964, which won the Ōhira Masayoshi Memorial Prize.
