Religious history researcher. Graduated from Waseda University. Writes about Shintō, Buddhism, and other religious traditions and customs in Japan, for which he regularly visits sacred sites throughout the country. Works include Sanpai shitaku naru: Nihon no kamisama to jinja no kyōkasho (A Handbook of Japan’s Deities and Shrines) and Zenkoku meisho zuemeguri: Kōkūshashin to yomitoku rekishi emaki (Understanding Historical Event through Aerial Photographs of Famous Places).
