Sawada Akihiro

Freelance journalist and editor of Tomoiki Journal, published by the nonprofit Japan-Vietnam Tomoiki Support Organization. Born in Kobe in 1981. After dropping out of high school, worked as a construction worker, an editor at an adult magazine, and a reporter at the Aera weekly before going freelance. Works include Rupo ginō jisshūsei (Reporting on Technical Trainees), Tōkyō o suteru: Korona ijū no riaru (Ditching Tokyo: The Realities of COVID-Driven Migration), and Gaikokujin makase: Ushinawareta 30 nen to ginō jisshūsei (Leave it to Foreigners: The Lost 30 Years and Technical Trainees).
