Sasaki ShizukaSASAKI Shizuka

Specially appointed professor at Hanazono University. Born in Fukui Prefecture in 1956. Graduated from Kyoto University, where he studied industrial chemistry and philosophy, and later completed a doctorate at the same university. After doing graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley, became a professor at Hanazono University, where he taught until retirement. Specializes in Indian Buddhism. His books on the history of Buddhism and Buddhist thought have won him numerous awards.
