Nishikawa Megumi

Contributing editorial writer at Mainichi Shimbun. After joining Mainichi in 1971, worked at bureaus in Tehran, Paris, and Rome before serving as the director of the newspaper’s foreign desk from 1998 to 2001, and then as a senior editorial writer from 2002 to 2014. Currently executive director of Japan Traffic Culture Association. Recipient of the French government’s National Order of Merit. Works include Erize kyū no shokutaku (Cuisine at the Élysée Palace), Kokusai seiji no zero nendai (International Politics, 2001–2010), and Shirarezaru kōshitsu gaikō (The Unsung World of Japan’s Imperial Diplomacy).
