• Mizukoshi Takeshi

    Photographer. Born in Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, in 1938. Resides in Teshikaga, Hokkaidō. After dropping out of university, studied under renowned Japanese photographer Tabuchi Yukio (1905–1989). Has made a career of photographing forests and mountains from the Japanese Alps and Yakushima to the Himalayas, Alaska, Siberia, and Africa. Publications include Nihon no genseirin (Japan’s Virgin Forests), winner of the Photographic Society of Japan’s Photo of the Year Prize; Shinrin rettō (Archipelago of Forests), winner of the Domon Ken prize; Shiretoko: Nokosareta genshi (Primeval Shiretoko), winner of the Minister of Education’s Art Encouragement Prize; Watashi no yama no hakubutsushi (My Natural History of the Mountains); Tsuki ni hoeru ōkami (Wolves Howling at the Moon); and Nihon Arupusu no raichō (The Rock Ptarmigan of the Japanese Alps).
