Maritomo

Osaka-born freelance writer and photographer Maritomo has worked as an assistant director at a video production company and as a website manager. However, her true passion—a passion to which she has committed more than 10 years of her life and that has led her to more than 300 locations across Japan—is the pursuit of Japan’s finest, or at least most astonishing, toilets. Today Maritomo has become a familiar figure in Japan’s media as the nation’s foremost “toilet hunter” and bathroom analyst. Her publications include Nippon no toire hoka (Japanese Toilets and More).
