Hirayama Yō
Philosopher and historian. Assistant professor at the University of Shizuoka. Specializes in ethics and the history of Japanese thought. Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1961. Graduated with a degree in philosophy from Keiō University and earned his doctorate in literature from Tōhoku University. Held post as guest researcher at the Edwin O. Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies, Harvard University. Started present position in 2007. Works include Fukuzawa Yukichi no shinjitsu(The Truth About Fukuzawa Yukichi) and Ajia dokuritsu ronsha Fukuzawa Yukichi (Fukuzawa Yukichi as Advocate for Independence in Asia).
