Endō Mitsugi

Professor at the University of Tokyo’s Department of Advanced Social and International Studies, where he specializes in modern African politics and international relations. Attended the University of Tokyo, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1987 and his master’s degree in international relations in 1989. In 1993 he completed his doctorate at the University of York’s Center for Southern African Studies. After returning to his alma mater, he worked as a research associate and assistant professor before attaining his present position in 2007. His publications include Hōkai kokka to kokusai anzen hoshō: Somaria ni miru arata na kokkazō no tanjō (Failed States and International Security: The Creation of a New National Form, as Seen in Somalia).
