Chang Hui Ching

Journalist. Born in Taiwan and now resident in Japan, has turned a longstanding interest in Japanese society into a career exploring the country through her work as a reporter, columnist, and translator. Came to Japan in 2012 on a Japanese government program for promising future journalists; in the following year took part in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kizuna Project, engaging in fieldwork and exchange activities in areas stricken by the Great East Japan Earthquake. A stay in Japan as an exchange student beginning in 2014 resulted in her residence in Kyoto. Today writes for a range of governmental and private-sector web publications, including as a regular columnist for the Taiwanese business magazine Commonwealth.
