A Pilgrimage in Black and White
Nature bestows great blessings but can also bring great disasters. In ancient Japan, people saw evidence in the workings of nature for the presence of myriad kami, regarded as spiritual beings to be both feared and respected. This view of nature and humanity’s place in it has been passed down to the present day. In this series, Ōsaka Hiroshi, one of Japan’s leading art photographers, visits the places where these spirits reside, capturing them in a series of remarkable images.
