Japan’s ambitious plan to revitalize its flagging semiconductor industry is gearing up quickly, with the subsidized construction of a TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) foundry in Kumamoto and the launch of Rapidus Corp., a domestic joint venture targeting cutting-edge microprocessors.
