Xi Jinping’s Triumph and the Fate of Taiwan

Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed his determination to reunite Taiwan with the mainland this past October, during the same National Congress that guaranteed him another five (and probably ten) more years as China's unchallenged autocrat. We asked experts to assess the outlook for Beijing's Taiwan policy in this historic context and to consider Japan's response.
