Japanese exports to China rose to ¥14.9 trillion in 2017, a 20.5% increase over the previous year, marking the highest total since statistics were first recorded in 1979.
Last year exports to China of manufacturing devices for items such as smartphone liquid-crystal displays rose significantly. However, imports of PCs and smartphones also increased so that overall Japan posted a ¥3.6 trillion deficit. The deficit was smaller than that of the previous year.
