Visiting researcher, Corvinus University of Budapest, and journalist. Joined the staff of the Asahi Shimbun in 1989. Served as the newspaper’s Shanghai correspondent, Beijing correspondent, and senior staff writer. Has been living and working independently in Budapest since 2023.
