    Wakabayashi Hideki

    Lecturer at the Tokyo University of Science. After obtaining his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering from the University of Tokyo in 1984 and 1986, he began working for the Nomura Research Institute. Has held analyst, managing director, and head of research positions at several firms including JP Morgan and Mizuho Securities. Was voted Japan’s top analyst in the electronics sector five times by the Nikkei newspaper. In 2005, established a Japan-specific hedge fund, where he served as chief investment officer. Has held his current position since 2017. Also a member of the Semiconductor and Digital Industry Strategy Review Conference and the METI expert committee for the establishment of data centers and other digital infrastructure, both of which are convened by the Ministry of Economics, Trade and Industry, in addition to chairing the policy proposal task force for the semiconductor section of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association. Publications include Dejitaru rettō shinkaron (Progress in Digital Japan), Keiei jūshin (Finding the Center of Gravity in Business Management), Hejjifando no shinjitsu (The Truth about Hedge Funds), and Nihon no denki sangyō ni mirai wa aru no ka (Does Japan’s Electronics Industry Have a Future?).
