Umeda Kōta

Visiting research fellow, Institute of Geoeconomics, International House of Japan. Research focuses on space policy, advanced technology, and cybersecurity. Earned his master’s degree from the Kyoto University Graduate School of Law and in 2010 joined the Ministry of Defense, where he worked in Defense Intelligence Headquarters and the International Policy Division. After leaving the ministry in 2015, he researched international trends in space and technology policy and worked on strategic planning for space development organizations before assuming his current position in May 2023.
