    Scientific coordinator at Asahi Shimbun. Studied physics at the University of Tokyo. Joined Asahi Shimbun in 1979, working in the Gifu bureau, the science division in the Tokyo bureau, and the editorial team at Kagaku Asahi publishing division. Served as an editorial board member for science, technology and medicine, deputy director of science, and science editor (division head). Currently, contributes to Webronza, the online discussion website for Asahi Shimbun, and writes a column for the Chibagin Research Institute’s publication Management Square. Since 1990, has regularly attended the biennial World Conference of Science Journalists, and was involved in the establishment of the World Federation of Science Journalists. Works include Jūryokuha hakken! (Gravity Waves Discovered!). Edited Sukyandaru no kagakushi (The Scandalous History of Science), and co-translated Nobel Dreams by Gary Taubes into Japanese.
