    Shiota Ushio

    Nonfiction writer and critic. Born in Kōchi Prefecture in 1946. Graduated from Keiō University. After working as a reporter for publications including the monthly journal Bungei Shunjū, he went freelance in 1983. His debut book Kasumigaseki ga furueta hi (The Days that Shook Kasumigaseki) won the Kōdansha Nonfiction Prize. Other works include Shōwa no kyōso: Yasuoka Masahiro (Yasuoka Masahiro: Originator of the Shōwa Age) and Nihonkoku kenpō o tsukutta otoko: Saishō Shidehara Kijūrō (The Man Who Made the Japanese Constitution: Prime Minister Shidehara Kijūrō).
