Satō Noriko
Professor at Kyūshū University. Specializes in forest policy and social structure of mountain communities. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1961. Earned her doctorate in forestry in 1989 from Kyūshū University. Accepted her current post in 2007. Serves on a Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications advisory panel on depopulation. She is a regular contributor to magazine Gendai ringyō (Modern Forestry). Works include Jibatsu ga hiraku nōrinka no mirai (Small-Scale Self-Employed Harvesting: A New Way Forward for Agriculture and Forestry).
