Sakamoto Toshio

Author. Born in Kumamoto in 1947. Began working at Osaka Prison as a guard in 1967 and went on to take positions within the Ministry of Justice and at various prisons around the country, finally serving as the director of the Hiroshima Detention Center before retiring in 1994. Works include Moto keimukan ga akasu shikei no subete (A Former Warden Tells All About the Death Penalty), Dare ga Nagayama Norio o koroshita no ka (Who killed Nagayama Norio?), and Shūjinfuku no Merosu-tachi (Melos in Prison Uniform).
