Saeki Junko

Professor at Dōshisha University. Specializes in comparative culture, media studies, and women’s cultural history. Her 1998 book Iro to ai no hikaku bunkashi (A Comparative Cultural History of Love and Eroticism) was awarded the Suntory Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities and the Yamazaki Prize. Other works include Otoko no kizuna no hikaku bunkashi: Sakura to shōnen (A Comparative Cultural History of Male Bonds: Boys and Cherry Blossoms). Contributed chapters for the English-language works A New Japan for the Twenty-first Century and Revenge Drama in European Renaissance and Japanese Theater.
