Ōtake Hidehiro
Born in Maizuru, Kyoto Prefecture, in 1975. Grew up in Setagaya, Tokyo. Earned a sociology degree from Hitotsubashi University. From 1999, has been a wildlife photographer exploring the bonds between people and nature in the Northwoods of North America. Major collections include Nōsuuzzu no mori de (In the Northwoods), Soshite, boku wa tabi ni deta (And So I Set Out), which won the seventh Umasao Tadao Literary Prize for Mountaineering and Exploration, and the photography collection Nōsuuzzu: Seimei o ataeru daichi (The Northwoods: The Land that Gives Life), which won the fortieth annual Domon Ken award.
