Nishioka Shōji

A native of Osaka. Worked in the Mainichi Newspapers Osaka Social Affairs and Political Affairs departments before heading up the China General Affairs Bureau. Was also the Mainichi Shimbun foreign news editor prior to leaving in 2020 to become a freelance journalist. During his nine years in China, covered Chinese political and social issues while also securing several scoops on North Korean developments.
