    Kuroiwa Yōkō

    Freelance writer. Born in Niigata Prefecture in 1981. After graduating from the University of Utrecht, worked at the United Nations Refugee Agency. Opened the Temple Hostel Hotaru in a 250-year-old temple building in his hometown of Minamiuonuma in July 2018. Has published numerous books and articles, particularly on ways to tap the potential of Japan’s foreign population to inject new energy into local communities.
