Bureau chief for the Asahi Shimbun in Shenyang, China. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1976. Joined Asahi Shimbun in 1999. Previously worked in positions including Shanghai bureau chief and deputy chief for international news department. Works include Kakusareta Chūgoku: Shū Kinpei “ikkyō taisei” no ashimoto (Hidden China: A Close-Up on Xi Jinping’s “One Strong” System).
