    Associate professor at the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology’s Office of Liaison and Cooperative Research. Specialist in fishery resources science. Outspoken advocate of reviving Japan’s fishery into a sustainable industry, from the perspective of theoretical research into resource management. Born in Tokyo in 1972. Earned his doctorate from the University of Tokyo. In his present post since 2015, after positions at the University of Tokyo’s Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute and at Mie University. Works include Sakana ga taberarenaku naru hi (The Day We Will No Longer Be Able to Eat Fish) and Gyogyō to iu Nihon no kadai (Japan’s Fishing Industry Problem).
