    Karube Kensuke

    Journalist and professor of economics at Teikyō University. Born in Tokyo in 1955. After graduating from Waseda University, joined Jiji Press in 1979. Served as Washington bureau chief, New York bureau chief, deputy managing editor, and chief commentator. Assumed his current position in 2020. Publications include Nichibei kome kōshō (Japan-US Rice Negotiations), which was awarded the agricultural journalist award, and his latest, Dokyumento kyōken no keizai seisaku (Documenting Japan’s Heavy-Handed Economic Policy).
