Ramen expert. Has visited over 6,000 ramen shops since his student days at Kokugakuin University, where he formed the Ramen Research Group. Has appeared on and helped produce numerous TV programs featuring ramen, consulted on the development of new cup-ramen products and advised ramen shops. His increasing focus in recent years is the expansion of ramen to such places as the United States, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and this interest has led to many overseas trips. His numerous publications include the bilingual work The Ramen Book.
