Hoshino Yoshihisa
Vice-chair of the Tokyo Geographical Society. Specializes in geography and cartography; expert on the life of Inō Tadataka. Born in 1946. After completing his postgraduate work at the University of Tokyo in 1973, joined the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan, where he provided cartological measurements to the government and researchers. Retired from his post in 2004. Works include Inō Tadataka: Nihon o hajimete hakatta guchoku no hito (Inō Tadataka: The Conscientious Cartographer Who First Mapped Japan).
