Joined Asahi Shimbun in 1993, working for its daily newspaper in the Osaka sports and society departments, the Kōchi Prefecture bureau, and the Tokyo cultural news department, as well as on the editorial teams for the Be weekend edition and the weekly journal Aera. In 2023, after 30 years of writing on a broad range of topics for the news publisher, went freelance. Her publications include Saigo no hanabi: Yokohama kodomo hosupisu “Umisora” monogatari (Final Fireworks: The Tale of the Yokohama Children’s Hospice Umisora).
