Gotō Hidefumi

Sports journalist. Majored in Japanese literature at International Christian University where he wrote a graduation thesis on Tobita Suishū (1886–1965), the father of student baseball in Japan. Joined Kyodo News in 1978 and served as the first sports correspondent at the New York desk from 1985 to 1987. Has covered major events like the summer and winter Olympics, FIFA World Cup, NFL Super Bowl, and the MLB World Series in addition to Japanese high school baseball and ice-skating tournaments. From 2013, taught for five years at the Biwako Seikei Sport College.
