Ozu Yasujirō: A Director’s Time in Tateshina

This year, 2023, marks 120 years since the birth and 60 since the death of Ozu Yasujirō, the renowned filmmaker from Japan’s cinema golden age. Journalist Carmen Grau Vila explores the director’s life in Tateshina Heights, where he spent his remaining years working together with his scriptwriter Noda Kōgo. There he enjoyed sake, family life, and the natural environment of this haven located in Nagano Prefecture.
