Seven & i Targets 30 T. Yen in Convenience Store Sales in FY 2030

Tokyo, Oct. 24 (Jiji Press)--Japanese retail giant Seven & i Holdings Co. said Thursday that it has set a target of increasing sales from convenience store operations at home and abroad to more than 30 trillion yen in fiscal 2030, up 1.7-fold from 17.7 trillion yen in fiscal 2023.

The Seven & i group aims to achieve this target by expanding its store network, especially overseas.

By setting the specific numerical target to clarify a growth path, the company apparently hopes to fend off a takeover bid from Canadian convenience store operator Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc.

Seven & i has decided to separate its supermarket and other operations in order to focus on its convenience store business.

The group plans to expand the number of its convenience stores outside Japan to a total of 100,000 stores in 30 countries and regions by fiscal 2030 from the current 85,000 in 20 countries and regions.
