Masaki Akira

Theologian. Born in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, in 1953. Completed his doctoral studies at the University of Tsukuba. Has taken his life’s work to be the consideration of how traditional knowledge such as Buddhism, including its esoteric teachings, can be applied to contemporary problems. Works include “Sen to Chihiro” no supirichuaru na sekai (The Spiritual World of Spirited Away), Mikkyō (Esoteric Buddhism), and Gendai Nihongo yaku: Hokekyō (A Contemporary Japanese Translation of the Lotus Sutra).
