Kotani Tetsuo
Professor of foreign languages at Meikai University and senior fellow at the Japan Institute of International Affairs. Completed his graduate research in American studies at Dōshisha University. Also specializes in Japan’s foreign and security policy, international relations in the Indo-Pacific region, and maritime security issues. Was a researcher at Vanderbilt University’s Center for US-Japan Studies and Cooperation, the Ocean Policy Research Institute, the Okazaki Institute, and the JIIA before assuming his present positions in 2020. Coauthor of works including Ukuraina sensō to gekihen suru kokusai chitsujo (The Ukraine War and the Rapidly Changing International Order) and Gaikō to senryaku (Diplomacy and Strategy). Winner of the 2003 Defense Agency Director-General Prize.
